  "McCabe said he started visiting Bulgaria in 1994, with Witnesses losing a case to be registered as a religion on grounds "we didn't believe in the Trinity." (Jehovah's Witnesses consider Jesus the first-born son of God and the second highest personage in the universe.) The situation was so tense, he recalled, that a member of Bulgaria's Parliament "stood up and said she wished she had a Kalasknikov to shoot all" Witnesses. Since then, he said, the government made a settlement with European courts and changed its law on conscientious objection.
  
  James Richardson, director of judicial studies at the University of Nevada in Reno, said Bulgaria eventually cooperated because of its interest in being accepted by the European community. "It was actually one of the important cases the European Court of Human Rights has decided."

  McCabe is hiding the real reason for the "Bulgarian compromise" : blood and sanctions on JW accepting transfusions.

  My darn dog died

  i've had this cowdog for nearly 11 years now.

  today she went out in the sun and got heatstroke and just didn't recover.

  i gave her cpr and brought her back twice but she was too far gone.

  here are scans of the "advance medical directive" (blood card) for 2001 and 2002. also shown is the "identity card" for minors for 2002.. note that the watchtower society cancelled distribution of the 2002 cards, and instructed that jws use the 2001 card until further notice.. card for 2001, page 2:.

  This is not really new. I visited the Brooklyn Bethel 24 years ago, in 1978. It was a 10 days trip organized by the Society for the european "brothers". I live in Belgium. Was included in the 10 days programme : assembly in the Yankee Stadium, visit of the Watch Tower HQ and Farms, a day in Washington ... and a rather long and detailed visit of the United Nations.
